Borys Todurov, Head of the Department of Cardiosurgery, X-ray and extracorporeal technologies at the Shupyk National Нealthcare University оf Ukraine, Director of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, presented a report about the work of the Ukrainian transplant team during the war at the European Congress of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgeons in Lisbon, EACTS-2024.
Borys Todurov told the medical community about the problems faced by Ukrainian doctors, the terrible realities and consequences of Russian aggression against Ukraine, and shared his experience in performing heart transplants during the war. This was the first time such a presentation was made at a European congress. It aroused great interest, and colleagues from all over the world expressed their support.
The academic staff and postgraduate students of the Department of Cardiac Surgery, X-ray Endovascular and Extracorporeal Technologies of SNНUU participated in the Congress. They learned about the latest technologies in cardiac surgery, attended master classes from leading experts, and saw an exhibition of medical equipment—from simple instruments to drones for ECMO transportation.
The Ukrainian doctors thanked the organisers for the opportunity to represent Ukraine at the Congress.
