On December 5-6, a regular meeting of the Presidium of the European Board and College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG) was held in Leuven, Belgium. Ukraine was represented by Professor Vyacheslav Kaminsky, the Rector of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, and Dr. Dmytro Ledin, a Doctor of Medical Sciences and Professor of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the same university.
During the meeting, participants approved the updated EBCOG Charter, identified key areas for further collaboration, and worked within the organization’s committees and commissions. The Ukrainian delegation’s participation in the upcoming EBCOG Congress, scheduled for June 5-7, 2025, in Frankfurt, Germany, was officially confirmed. This event will feature a dedicated plenary session of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Ukraine (AOGU) and a specialized masterclass.
The EBCOG comprises representatives from national associations of obstetricians and gynecologists from 37 countries, along with delegates from European associations representing four subspecialties in the field. This year, the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) representatives also joined the Presidium.
During their visit to Belgium, the Ukrainian delegation engaged in discussions with authorized representatives of UEMS regarding the introduction of modern technologies in simulation medicine. Specifically, they explored the potential development of training centres in medical schools in Ukraine, including Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. There are also plans for collaboration in reforming the healthcare system, enhancing the quality of medical education, and integrating Ukraine into the European medical and scientific community.
