Ukrainian doctors explored European practices for assessing disability during a webinar titled “General Principles of Disability Assessment: The Italian Model.” This event, which took place on January 10, was organised with the support of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine as part of the Ministry of Healthcare of Ukraine initiative to reform the Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) and implement the new European Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ECOPFO) assessment system.

Mauro Zampolini, President of the European Section of UEMS-PRM and Head of the Rehabilitation Department at USL Umbria 2 in Italy, shared his insights on the experiences and challenges associated with various disability assessment models.

His presentation generated significant interest among Ukrainian colleagues, where he emphasized the importance of utilizing diverse assessment methods and the need for ongoing improvements. He highlighted the necessity of enhancing the quality, transparency, and accountability of disability assessment systems.
