June 14-17, 2017 in Frankfurt on the Main (Germany) there was held International Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (E.A.E.S.-2017). This world-wide forum annually summarizes and defines the main future trends and prospects for further development of innovations in laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery.

The programme covered almost all areas and branches of surgical discipline with emphasis and priorities on laparoscopic and endoscopic technologies, the use of surgical robots and their rational (hybrid or associate) combination. Accordingly, modern technological products from leading manufacturers of surgical equipment were presented.

Among 1500 delegates from all over the world, the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education was represented by its Head – MD, Dr.Sc., Associate Professor S. Savolyuk. He participated in the eventful programme of the Congress, including his presentation of two electronic poster reports prepared by the staff of the department: in urgent surgery section – “Application of the Multimodal Rapid Recovery Programme in the Surgery of Perforated Duodenal Ulcer", and in colorectal surgery section – “Application of Transanal Minimally Invasive Surgery (TAMIS) in the Surgery of Benign and Carefully Selected Neoplasms of the Rectum”. The reports sparked the lively discussion and interest of the audience, as the submitted material on the implementation of the Fast TrackSurgery protocol was based on a large number of observations (120 patients), and the developed approaches to transalanal laparoscopic removal of rectal tumours differed from the traditional course of surgical intervention in the context of haemostasis and restoration of rectal mucosa using biowelding technology, which greatly simplifies the procedure and increases the reliability of direct surgical intervention.

The 26th International Congress of the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (E.A.E.S.-2018) will be held on May 30, 2018 in London (England).
