In a short period of time from its creation and at the present time (2005-2019 years) at the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education  47 foreign citizens whose geography was not restricted to the CIS countries was trained (34) (Georgia - 19, Uzbekistan - 4, Azerbaijan - 7, Moldova - 1, Turkmenistan - 3), among them were representatives of foreign countries 13, namely: Ecuador - 1, Tunisia - 1, Libya - 1, Nigeria - 1,Somalia - 1, Afghanistan - 2, Iran-2, Syria-2, Palestine-1, Bahrain - 1.

Moreover, during the period since the end of 2015 till present when the chair was headed by S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor), 20 foreign young specialists trained (43%, almost half of the amount).

Such a number of foreign citizens who have a desire to study at NMAPE and at the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery, in particular, testify to the undeniable authority of our educational institution in the international arena.

The clinic of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery attracts young specialists, without a doubt, by its urgent character and innovation in approaches to the scientific, educational and medical work of the department staff with emphasis on modern approaches of fast recovery after surgery, which the department's staff actively introduces into all branches of clinical surgery. The scope of scientific and medical priorities of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery, which are outlined in the strategy and program of the head of the department, S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor), is very wide, it covers the entire spectrum of urgent and planned surgical pathology of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space using traditional, laparoscopic and echo-controlled navigation accesses, modern alloplasty of abdominal hernia and complicated defects of the abdominal wall, non-invasive surgery of varicose veins of the lower limbs, minimally-invasive radical oncosurgery, innovative methods for treating diabetic foot syndrome and trophic ulcers of the lower extremities, advanced technologies for treating digestive tract fissures, bariatric surgery, Fast Track Surgery protocols, and electrical welding of biotissues.

That is what makes the department attractive to foreign citizens. Currently, 4 foreign citizens study at the department in the clinical residency - 2 from Azerbaijan, 1 from Turkmenistan and 1 from Nigeria, one of them, Yusifova Sevindj (Azerbaijan), plans to continue her studies at the department as a PhD student for the research work devoted to bariatric surgery.
