"Can coronavirus infection affect and contribute, like a Trojan horse, to the development of other diseases soon?"‒ this issue is now acute for clinicians of many specialties. And, although COVID-19 is mainly characterized by symptoms from the respiratory tract, complications from other organs and systems often accompany COVID-19 infection, increasing the morbidity and mortality of such patients.
The teleconference "Therapeutic Strategies for COVID–19", which was held online on December 9, 2021, was devoted to this and many other issues.
The teleconference was multidisciplinary, involving specialists from various fields of medicine (family doctors, intensive care specialists, surgeons, etc.). This event was attended by about 10,000 doctors, both from different regions of Ukraine and from the nearest foreign countries.
Leading Ukrainian speakers made presentations (Prof. O. Golubovska, Prof. L. Moroz, Prof. K. Yurko and others), who highlighted several topical issues: the actions of the doctor at different stages of the disease of new forms of coronavirus infection; how to prevent serious mistakes in the early stages of the disease and prevent the development of a severe or critical form of COVID-19; how to diagnose the beginning of the development of a cytokine storm; how to manage the development of complications in COVID-19, etc.
On behalf of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, the head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care, Prof. O. Loskutov had the presentation.
In his report, Professor Oleg Loskutov highlighted the impact of hyper-inflammatory syndromes in COVID-19 on the development of short- and long-term inflammation and focused on the main therapeutic measures that help to cure such inflammation.
This event aroused the interest of the participants, as evidenced by numerous questions and positive feedback from the audience.
