The professional seminar «Anesthesia in primary surgical treatment of wounds» was held on March 31 and on April 14, 2022 by the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.

The theme of the seminar is dictated by the need to provide medical care to many wounded, both military and civilian, including children, as a result of the invasion of the  russian federation on the territory of Ukraine.

Methods of general and regional anesthesia for adults and children were considered during the seminar. Different variants of gunshot wounds and the scope of surgical intervention, which determines the anesthesia management, were outlined. Possible complications and measures to prevent them were discussed. In particular, emphasis was placed on the condition of the victim and systemic disorders that must be taken into account when performing anesthesia.

At the end of the seminar, participants received answers to their questions, most of which concerned patient safety during anesthesia. Participants noted the relevance of the topic and expressed a desire to further attend professional seminars organized by the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.
