On May 6, 2022, the Department of Pediatric Anesthesiology and Intensive Care held another one-day professional seminar "Intensive Care of Neurotrauma in Children".
The event took place in a remote format on the Gotomeeting platform. The seminar was devoted to the topical issue of pediatric intensive care, namely, neurotrauma in children. During the seminar, current recommendations of the management of pediatric patients with traumatic brain injury were presented.
Namely, current data on neuromonitoring, threshold values of the most important indicators that affect the future prognosis and the current evidence base to justify their use.
The section on intensive care aroused special interest among students. Namely, the use of hyperosmolar therapy, the use of analgesics, sedatives and neuromuscular blockade, strategies of mechanical lung ventilation, temperature management, cerebrospinal fluid drainage and decompressive craniectomy. The lively discussion at the end of the seminar testified to the relevance of the topic for the interest of the audience in the topic of the event, especially in light of the situation in the country.
