Irpin Central City Hospital has long been the clinical base of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.
During the military aggression, when active hostilities took place within Kyiv and Kyiv region, the staff of the department (Lysenko V., Krestyanov M. and Gorbovets V.) provided emergency surgical care to wounded and injured soldiers of the Armed Forces and civilians until March 11.
However, the hospital suffered infrastructural damage and destruction, which made it impossible to function properly.
After its deoccupation and liberation, a difficult recovery process began.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the administration of Irpin Central City Hospital (director - Dovgopol A., head of the hospital - Levchuk V.) and with the direct participation of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery (head of the Department, prof. Savoliuk S. and Lysenko V., Krestyanov M.) on April 25 managed to start the surgical department initially on a shift basis (duty for 3 consecutive days), completely restoring the operating room, surgical equipment, laparoscopic and endoscopic video systems.
Modern minimally invasive operations (laparoscopic sleeve resection of the stomach, laparoscopic TAPP-hernioplasty, laparoscopic cholecystectomy and appendectomy) were performed.
The launch of the surgical service helped to resume the work of the staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery with interns of 2nd and 3rd years of studying and students of the planned cycle of thematic improvement, dividing them into clinical bases (Kyiv Municipal Clinic № 8 and Irpin Central City Hospital ).
