The first and the only one Department of Children’s Surgery for Doctors’ Advanced Training was founded at the beginning of1981 to meet the requirements of the public health of the USSR and Ukraine, as till then there had not been performed the children’s surgeons’ advanced training in Ukraine. The founder and the first head of the department was Doctor of Medical sciences, Full Professor D. Yu. Kryvchenia, and since 1992 the department has been headed by his disciple, MD, Dr. Sc, Full Professor O. A. Danylov.
