The subject of the research work is entitled “Developing Complex Therapeutic Programmes and Improving Preventive Methods for Complicated Surgical Pathology in Children”.

Objective. To improve the short-term results and follow-ups of the surgery in children.

To perform the research work the Department of Children’s Surgery has got modern therapeutic and diagnostic equipment and the broad cohort of surgical patients aged  0 - 18.

 Since 1992 the staff members have published 310 scientific works in the leading editions of Ukraine, Russia, Poland; acquired 15 patents for invention of Russia and Ukraine. There have been defended 15 Candidate’s and 3 Doctoral theses. Since 2003 the department has been the founder and publisher of the quarterly journal “Khirurhiia Dytiachoho viku” (Paediatric Surgery), approved by the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine. The editor-in-chief has been Full Professor O. A. Danylov, executive secretary - Full Professor V. F. Rybalchenko. There have been edited 35 issues, including 900 scientific and practical papers. The journal is a publication received by subscription; it is popularized at the children’s surgical units of Ukraine.
