The Department of Pathological Anatomy was founded in 1922. The department is based in the pathology department of the Kyiv Regional Clinical Hospital
The heads of the department of pathological anatomy worked as professors: I. G. Titov, P. A. Kucherenko, V. V. Lauer.
The department was looted by German fascist occupants and restored after the Great Patriotic War. At that time, in the post-war years, for almost 30 years, the department was headed by Professor M. K. Dahl. Subsequently, from 1973 to 1993, the department was headed by Professor AP Fedotov. At one time professors N.O. Maksymovych, V. L. Bialik, teachers - associate professors I. M. Estrin, V. S. Vyatchenko, D. O. Zakusilo worked at the department. From 1992 to 2016, the department was headed by Professor V.P. Silchenko.
Since 2016 the department is headed by Professor Dyadyk O.O.
During the period of existence of the department of pathologic anatomy, its employees were the heads of more than 40 dissertations on the specialty "Pathological anatomy".
The staff of the department published 5 monographs and more than 600 scientific works.
The department is a scientific-methodical center in Ukraine on the specialty "Pathological anatomy" and "Children's pathological anatomy". The staff of the department created programs and work plans for all types of specialization and internship, pre-certification cycles and thematic improvement cycles for pathological anatomy and pediatric pathological anatomy. In 2000, the department revised and approved the Ministry of Health of Ukraine test certificate program AAS-2000, which is the certification of pathologists and pediatric pathologists.
