The cycle is intended for the training of ophthalmologists of ophthalmologic departments, clinics with a practical work experience of not less than 5 years,- for the second category,  not less than 7 years, - for the first category, not less than 10 years, - for the highest category. The purpose of the cycle is to identify the competences (knowledge and skills) from ophthalmology, to improve the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnostics, therapeutic, laser and surgical treatment of patients, in accordance with the conditions of the qualification characteristics of the physician.
The clinical bases of the department of ophthalmology, were used to conduct classes in the pre-certification cycle "Ophthalmology". Kyiv City Clinical Ophthalmological Hospital "Eye Microsurgery Center", an advisory clinic of the Kyiv City Clinical Ophthalmologic Center "Eye Microsurgery Center", which ensures the ability to independently master the cycle of leading clinical and instrumental diagnostic methods.

Practical classes provide conditions for students to learn diagnostic techniques. Students of the cycle have an opportunity not only to get acquainted with the latest achievements of the modern world in ophthalmology, new views on pathogenesis, but also to master modern diagnostic methods and principles of treatment.

For the final exam, use a computer attestation test program approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Students who have passed the exam will receive a certificate the established sample with the recommendation to assign an appropriate qualification category in ophthalmology.
