The program of the thematic improvement cycle "Ocular plastics and eye prosthetics" is intended for improvement of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in diagnostics, conservative and surgical treatment of congenital, traumatic, age-related changes of the auxiliary apparatus of the eye and periorbital area, as well as advanced training in modern eye prosthesis.

The following main types of training sessions are provided for the implementation of this program: thematic and problem lectures, seminars and various types of practical classes on the acquisition of diagnostic methods, surgical treatment, microsurgery techniques and rehabilitation methods. The main objective of the program is mastering the microsurgical reconstructive-restorative methods of ocular plastics and improving the knowledge of the general eye prosthesis. The program presents the main nosological forms of injury, congenital and age-related changes in the eye that require ocular plastics.

The objective of the lecture course is to present contemporary views on reconstructive restoration and aesthetic interventions in diseases and lesions of the eye and periorbital area. The anatomical features of the auxiliary apparatus of the eye from the positions of reconstructive ocular plastics, modern diagnostic methods for choosing the most reasonable method of surgical intervention, as well as the possibilities of stage rehabilitation treatment, the modern terminology apparatus of ocular plastic surgery are considered. Students learn about preventive methods of combating surgical and postoperative complications, methods of pain relief, preparation for surgery and postoperative treatment after surgical interventions.
