The main clinical base of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine (head of the Department - professor Savoliuk S.) is based at Kyiv city clinical hospital №8.  It consists of 2 surgical departments (100 inpatient beds), which accommodate patients with the entire spectrum of elective and urgent surgical pathologies, evacuated wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Three times a week all over Kyiv ambulancies hospitalise patients with surgical pathologies to the Kyiv city clinical hospital №8, other days the clinic overlaps urgent surgical care to several districts of Kyiv.

It has already become a good tradition in the clinic, when twice a month the team of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine has urgent daily shifts at the hospital. The cathedral team consists of: head of the Department professor Savoliuk S., assistant of the department, PhD Zavertylenko D., PhD students Dembitskyi A., Melnychuk G., Krugliak Y. and interns on duty. During the daily duty this team day and night receives urgent patients from all districts of Kyiv and evacuation trains with wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces.

During shifts, there are morning and evening rounds of all patients in the surgical departments and ICU department, elective and urgent hospitalizations with surgical interventions, most of them performed by laparoscopic minimally invasive access, which is a priority.

Such experience is valuable for the training of young specialists, the formation and growth of the department's personnel reserve, and is necessary for the constant accumulation of clinical material for the department's multifaceted scientific research.
