The Department of Foreign Languages launches the Teachers' Advanced Training Course on January 13, 2020.
Here the attendees are involved in a wide range of short activities which are designed around topics engaging and relevant to the learners and used to complement their curriculum, giving the students an opportunity to develop their English language and skills in motivating and enjoyable ways. Written by the learner experts from around the world, the efforts are easy to use and aim to give them the skills and confidence they need to enjoy learning English.
The syllabus includes various topical sections, in particular Conversational Formulas, including Greetings, Leave-Taking, Introductions, Invitations, Congratulations, Good Wishes, Additional formulas, Apologies, Requests, Thanks, Agreement, Partial Agreement, Disagreement, Uncertainty, Tentative Opinions, Doubt, Disbelief, Advice, Commands; as well as Time, Family, Biography, Shops and Shopping, Work, Occupations, People and Places, Houses and Homes, English in the Classroom, Scientific Efforts, Papers, Reports.
The package also covers such sets as morphology and syntax, which are subdivisions of the study of languages and together with phonetics, semantics and phonology contribute to the understanding of how a language is formed. Basically morphology analyzes the structure of words and parts of words, such as stems, root words, prefixes, and suffixes, also looking at parts of speech, intonation and stress, and the ways context can change a word's pronunciation and meaning, while syntax is the set of rules, principles, and processes that govern the structure of sentences in a given language, usually including word order. Together these disciplines help linguists understand how language works.
The teaching resources consist of listening, speaking, reading and writing, warm ups, games, especially all the package gives a chance to have a break for the learners when their teachers are tackling a tough subject.
