On October 17, 2020, the BRITISH-UKRAINIAN SYMPOSIUM (BUS 12) “Protocols vs. Individualization of Treatment in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care” and the YOUTH ANESTHESIOLOGICAL CONFERENCE (YAC-5) completed their work.
The forums caused a great resonance among the anesthesiology community: only officially registered and viewed reports and workshops of BUS and YAC, 1804 and 733 participants, respectively! Such a large representation indicates the great popularity of these forums.
Two channels were involved, which simultaneously broadcast sessions, which were devoted to current areas in modern anesthesiology and intensive care. During these forums, the achievements of evidence-based medicine and ways to implement them in protocols and clinical practice in such subspecialties as anesthesiology, intensive care, perioperative medicine, pain medicine and emergency medicine were discussed.
In total, more than 30 hours of spot time were spent. There was lively feedback from speakers, listeners and moderators. After the sessions, the latter discussed the reports and shared their fresh impressions. This interactivity of the participants of the communication process allowed to meet the information needs of users. Despite the online format of the conference, participants were invited to view more than 10 workshops and round tables, which increases the effectiveness of the implementation of new material in clinical practice.
Based on the results of the plenary and sectional sessions of BUS-12 and YAC-5, a resolution was adopted on the implementation of:
- standardized and adapted to domestic conditions algorithms for providing emergency care at COVID-19;
- airway patency treatment protocols, including in the care of patients with dangerous infections;
- updated logistics standards and equipment tables;
- coagulation disorders management protocols;
- protocols for the management of acute pain pain in the perioperative period.
After graduation, the organizers - employees of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (NMAPE), headed by Professor Oleh Loskutov, discussed the main provisions of the forums, drew conclusions and determined plans for BUS 13 and YAC 6 for 2021, with the hope that they will take place in real, live communication.
