On May 17, 2021, an important event took place at the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine. It was the first defenses of dissertations for the PhD degree.
Thus, first there was a meeting of the one-time specialized scientific council of the DF 26.613.033, which defended the dissertation for PhD degree in the field of knowledge 22 Health care in the specialty 222 - Medicine (scientific specialty "Anesthesiology and Intensive Care"), which was formed in Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine dated 19.03.2021 № 342 for consideration of the dissertation of the post-graduate student of the full-time and evening form of training of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine Serhiy Veremchuk on the topic: "Intensive care of acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation during endovascular myocardial recanalization".
Then there was a meeting of the one-time specialized scientific council of the DF 26.613.035, which defended the dissertation for PhD degree in the field of knowledge 22 Health care in specialty 222 - Medicine (scientific specialty "Anesthesiology and Intensive Care"), which was formed in Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine by the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine from 19.03.2021 № 342 to consider the dissertation of a post-graduate student of full-time and evening form of education of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine Dmytro Radiushyn on the topic: "Prevention of cognitive disorders in operations with cardiopulmonary bypass".
The scientific supervisor of both applicants is the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, Professor Oleg Loskutov.
According to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the official opponents in the defense of both dissertations were: Professor of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Poltava State Medical University Dmytro Shkurupiy and General Director of the National Clinical Hospital "Okhmatdyt" Volodymyr Zhovnir. The official reviewers were: Oleksandr Halushko, Professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, and Mykhailo Bondar, Associate Professor of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care of Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine.
According to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Professor Maryna Trishchynska was appointed the Chairman of both one-time specialized scientific councils, which held both meetings in strict compliance with the requirements of paragraph 21 of the Procedure for conducting an experiment to award the PhD degree in the field of knowledge 22 Health in 222 Medicine (specialization "Anesthesiology and Intensive Care"), approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine from 06.03.2019 № 167.

The meetings had the character of an open scientific discussion, questions were asked from all participants of the meeting: the chairman of the council, opponents, reviewers, invited staff of the department, as well as questions received by the university to the council in writing by e-mail. Applicants provided comprehensive answers to all questions, which satisfied all members of the specialized council. Each of the opponents and reviewers praised the dissertation and its author.
During the meeting, the council established the level of acquisition of theoretical knowledge, skills, abilities and other competencies, which gave them the opportunity to complete research work, which contains new provisions and new scientifically results, which together solve important scientific and applied problems modern anesthesiology and intensive care.
According to the results of the secret ballot, it was unanimously decided to award both dissertations – Serhiy Veremchuk and Dmytro Radiushyn with PhD degrees in the field of knowledge 22 "Health" in the specialty 222 - "Medicine" (scientific specialty 14.01.30 "Anesthesiology and Intensive Care").
