The department is recognized due to the awards obtained by its members: Full Professors L. O. Bulakhova (1970) and A. P. Chuprykov (1985) were awarded V. Protopopov’s Prize. Full Professor A. P. Chuprykov was also awarded the Golden Medal for Achievements in Science and Technology (International Personnel Academy, 2002), the Golden Medal for Achievements in Science, the Albert Schweitzer Gold Medal. Full Professor A. P. Chuprykovwa selected Full Member of New York Academy of Sciences (1996), International Personnel Academy (1998), International Academy of Ecology and Environmental Sciences (2002), Bulgarian National Academy of Medicine (2004), European Academy of Natural Sciences (2006).
