Dr. Chubar is a Candidate of Chemical Sciences in specialty "Technological safety of Ukraine". Her PhD thesis (completed at the Institute of Hydrobiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (NASU) in the field of hydrochemistry) was devoted to the speciation and migration regularities of heavy metals in the water of the Dnieper river reservoirs. She graduated from the Faculty of Chemistry of Kyiv State University named after T.G. Shevchenko (presently known as Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv), Department of Inorganic Chemistry, having acquired the qualification "chemist, lecturer". N. Chubar was awarded the title of Senior Scientist in Physical Chemistry (obtained at the Institute for Sorption and Problems of Endoecology of the NASU) and a Certificate for Teaching at Higher Education (issued by the Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland, United Kingdom).
At the Shupyk National Healthcare University of Ukraine, N. Chubar has been working at the Department of Public Health, Epidemiology and Ecology as an Associate Professor since May 15, 2024, and during September 2020 - January 2021, she performed the duties of an Assistant Professor at the same department.
The professional activities of Dr. Chubar have been dominated by one or several types of works, among which were scientific research only (the greatest contribution), teaching, university level teaching/research and management (leading research group and research projects; international cooperation and conference organization).
Chubar pursued her career abroad for about 11 years, including as a Researcher within specific research grants (Utrecht University, The Netherlands - 5.5 years; Instituto Superior Tecnico, Portugal - 1 year), as well as a Lecturer in Water and Water Purification at Glasgow Caledonian University (4 years 8 months). She performed the role of an examiner at the PhD defense at the UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education (Delft, the Netherlands), in 2013.
Dr. Chubar’s teaching experience covers all levels starting from teaching at high schools (gymnasiums), including international baccalaureate, MSc students, PhD students and postgraduate education. In addition to teaching traditional chemistry subjects, she has developed many modules, topics and lecture materials related to environmental chemistry; hydrochemistry and ecotoxicology; environmental engineering; water treatment, and ecological component of public health.
The areas of scientific interests of N. Chubar, based on her research experience, include certain directions of materials science, inorganic synthesis, hydrochemistry (environmental chemistry), biogeochemistry, sorptive removal of ions from water solutions, biosorption. The most notable scientific achievements in the mentioned fields are the invention of a new synthetic method for preparation of Mg-Al layered double hydroxides (LDHs) designed to remove toxic anions from water (such as arsenate); three discoveries in biomineralization at the interface of two phases: living cells of gram-negative bacterium Shewanella putrefaciens and aqueous Mn(II) cations; suggestions of the methodological approaches (ideas) how to expand (and deepen) the application of the precision spectroscopic tools, EXAFS (extended X-ray absorption fine structure) and XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy).
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Chubar mainly publishes her scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals having certain impact factors. Their list can be seen on the ORCID and Google Scholar websites.
