Clinical bases of the Pediatrics-2 Department are Kiev City’ Children's Clinical Hospital №1, municipal non-profit enterprises: "Center of Primary Health Care № 1" and "Center of Primary Health Care № 2" of Obolonsky district in Kiev. Since 2018 State Institution "Institute of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of NAMS of Ukraine" also became a clinical base.
The Department of Pediatrics-2 is based in multidisciplinary Kiev City’ Children's Clinical Hospital №1. Hospital bed capacity is 400. Total pediatric beds, there are 150: 40-bed Infection unit (specializing in treatment of acute respiratory viral infections and their complications), 30-bed Cardiorheumatology unit, 40-bed General pediatric unit with beds for patients with cystic fibrosis and hematologic diseases, and 40-bed Nephrology unit. There are also specialized 140 beds: 80-bed separate Infection unit with beds for patients with immunological disorders; 30-bed ENT unit, 40-bed Neurology unit and 30-bed Neonatal pathology unit. In addition, there are Intensive care unit (12 beds), Neonatal intensive care unit (12 beds) and Dialysis unit (12 beds).
Department members provide advice to all units and directly supervise three units (Cardiorheumatology, General pediatrics and Infection unit).
Medical counselling for patients with complex pediatric problems is also delivered by department members in the Consultation Clinic based in Kiev City’ Children's Clinical Hospital №1. A unique characteristic of Consultation Clinic is the care for pediatric patients with such hereditary pathologies as phenylketonuria, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, connective tissue idiopathic diseases, and other orphan diseases. Department members routinely conduct the following examinations: echocardiography, ECG, Head and neck ultrasonography, musculoskeletal ultrasonography, 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring/Holter ECG monitoring.
Department members organize and actively participate in clinical conferences held in departmental clinical bases, conduct consultations and expert reviews of complicated clinical cases.
