On September 3 - 7, 2019 in Madrid, Spain, the Department of General and Emergency Surgery (head of the Department - Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor V.V.  Kryzhevskiy)   took part in the 24th World Congress of the International Federation of Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO). The IFSO is a surgical federation of 63 official national associations of bariatric surgeons and individual members.

From 11 to 15 of August 2019 the Department of General and Emergency Surgery participated in the 48th World Congress of Surgeons (WCS2019), which was in Krakow, Poland. The congress was held by the International Society of Surgeons (ISS) in conjunction with many other international associations: endocrine surgeons, traumatologists , intensive care and resuscitation specialists, bariatric and gastroenterological surgeons, oncologists and plastic surgeons operating on mammary glands and others, including an alliance of surgeons and anesthetists.

From 21 to 24 September 2019, the World Congress of Gastroenterology was held in Istanbul. This meeting was organized with World Gastroenterology Organisation and Turkish Society of Gastroenterology. The event was attended by more than 2000 professionals from 49 countries. Ukraine was represented by a powerful delegation from many regions of Ukraine, headed by Professor I.M. Skripnik - President of the Ukrainian Gastroenterological Association. The Department of Therapy of NMAPE named after P.L. Shupik was represented by prof. A.E. Dorofeyev.

A special course was held during the 48th World Congress of Surgeons in Krakow on August 11, 2019: A COURSE TO IMPROVE TEACHING AND CAREER GROWTH OF ACADEMIC SURGEONS (AAS / WJS / ISS / SIC CAREER DEVELOPMENT FOR ACADEMIC SURGEONS COURSE).

On October 16-20 in Barcelona, Spain the Annual Meeting of European Association for the Study of Diabetes took place. This Congress is the major scientific and clinical event in the field of basic and clinical Diabetology.

On September 27, 2019, a scientific and practical seminar with international participation “Modern Aspects and International Strategy for Postgraduate Education, Professional Regulation and Standard Setting in Histopathology” was held at the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. More than 250 pathologists and other specialists from 13 regions of Ukraine attended this scientific event.
