Currently, one of the main tasks of modernizing health care is to provide training and retraining of medical personnel based on continuing professional education. One of the effective forms of such an educational process is specialized conferences and congresses.

Modern changes in the legislation in the field of postgraduate education, competition with private medical and educational institutions are a challenge and an engine to constantly improve the work of clinical departments, to find new approaches and to develop complex strategies for the tasks of completing program cycles. Only by creating original, interesting and modern content and positioning to the surgical audience, being open to new implementations, monitoring trends and changing them, finding and working with strategic partners - allows us to reach high goals.

According to the program of continuous training of oncosurgery and oncologists, the Ukrainian society of surgical oncology under the auspices of the European society of surgical oncology, National Cancer Institute, Ministry of Health of Ukraine, September 19-21, 2019 at the Congress Hall of the President Hotel was the IX International Congress of Oncologists presented a three-day scientific program «Advances in the surgery of Gastrointestinal Cancer with a scientific course of the modern appro aches in the Cancer immunotherapy».

The elections of the new WHO Regional Director for Europe took place at the 69th meeting of the WHO European Region’s governing body. The nominee is Dr Kluge, a Belgian national, who started his career as a family doctor in Belgium and served for Médecins Sans Frontières in Liberia and Somalia. Later he was responsible for tuberculosis, AIDS and malaria programmes in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and Myanmar.

The staff of the Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery of Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education (Chief of Department of Surgery and Vascular Surgery - S. Savoliuk (MD, Dr.Sc., Full Professor)) received a letter of thanks from the administration of the National Danube Regional Hospital of the Odessa Regional Council.

On Sept. 17-18th 2019 the first Scientific European Meeting for applications of optogenetics was organized by Inscopix (USA) in College de France (Paris, France), in which a Head of the Oncology Department of the Shupyk NMAPE Prof. Myasoyedov S. D. took part. The event consisted of the newest demonstrations of the method, original reports from some European countries and a poster session.
